甲胺(Methylamine，CH3NH2)和二甲胺(Dimethylamine，CH3)2NH)均为无色、有特殊气味、属中等急性毒性的物质，水溶液均为中强碱性，在空气中爆炸极限，甲胺为4.9-20.7%(φ)，二甲胺为2.8-14.4%。一甲胺沸点为-6℃，20℃蒸气压为304kPa。二甲胺沸点为6.88℃，20℃时的蒸气压为173.9kPa(1307.2mmHg)。我国研制车间空气中一甲胺和二甲胺的测定方法都为分光光度法，该方法干扰大，不能对一甲胺、二甲胺等同时测定。
